Brazil has concluded an agreement to make it easier to work and study in Australia

  • by

Good news for anyone hoping to stay in Australia: the foreign ministry has revealed a new agreement with the Australian government to make it easier for Brazilians to work or study in the country.  The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries will enable students to be issued with work or vacation Visas.

The MOU is similar to ones previously agreed with Germany, France and New Zealand. According to Itamaraty, the agreement will come into force on July 1st of this year and it will enable 500 young Brazilians each year, between the ages of 18 and 30, to stay in Australia for up to 12 months, to work or to study.

At the moment, any Brazilian who wants to work or study in Australia needs to already have an employer or educational institute to sponsor them. Brazilians make up the eighth largest group of overseas students in the country, with around nine thousand students, according to the Brazilian government.

You may have already read in the Blog that the Australian government has created a special website of information for anyone who wishes to study or live in Australia. The Study Australia Experience is an unprecedented initiative that gives access to over 30 educational institutions. On the website, you can find information about the cost of living, monthly fees, employment advice and requirements for entering the country. There are also videos, updated weekly, webinars and master classes.

Learn about NAATI translations

If you wish to work or study in Australia, your documentation needs to go through a form of sworn translation, approved by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI)

Traduzca has translators who have been accredited by this body and make NAATI translations of school reports and graduate and postgraduate diplomas, as well as driver’s licenses and birth certificates. This ensures that your sworn translations are valid when you travel to the country. N.B. NAATI Translation is only valid in Australia. If you are visiting any other country, check the requirements for visas and other documents.
